One of the newest properties from the luxury DELAMAR family of hotels, DELAMAR West Hartford offers a convenient stay in the area, just a short drive from Hartford, Connecticut. Overall, the property is a modern and upscale retreat with world-class amenities and a stellar staff.

I enjoyed a recent stay this winter season and was immediately pleased upon discovering the hotel’s location in West Hartford’s Blue Back Square, a modern development with dining, shopping and bars. Since West Hartford is more of a drivable destination, and most visitors would do well to have a vehicle at their disposal, the hotel does offer complimentary valet service, though a house car also provides transportation to guests within a five-mile radius.

In the expansive lobby, guests are offered bottled water or a glass of Prosecco. The modern space also offers self-serve coffee and hot chocolate, 24 hours a day.

The DELAMAR West Hartford encompasses 115 guestrooms, with a range of room types and sizes. I stayed in a corner suite, which opened immediately to a wet bar area. That led into a large bathroom, a living area and separate bedroom. The guest bathrooms in corner suites offer roomy showers, double vanities, plenty of lighting and Bvlgari toiletries. The living area, with its seating for four, centers around a large entertainment center. The bedroom offers its own television and seating area. The suite as a whole boasted lots of little touches that made the space more comfortable and homey, from plush throws for snuggling up on the couch to the bucket of ice waiting on the wet bar upon check-in, to the plenteous glassware, including espresso cups for use with a Nespresso espresso maker.

While I highly recommend the corner suites, I also had the chance to visit one of the terrace guestrooms during my stay, and can see why they would be popular during the summer months. Each terrace guestroom includes a large terrace with outdoor seating and views of the hotel’s lawn, garden and fire pits. It’s the perfect place to relax during a warm-weather stay, whether you’re soaking in some midday sun or kicking back with a drink after dark.

The hotel’s restaurant, Artisan, serves complimentary breakfast to guests, 7–10 a.m. each day, and lunch and dinner to the public. The menu is filled with New England-inspired fare and local, seasonal ingredients. Diners with dietary restrictions will not be left wanting for delectable menu items. During my stay I enjoyed an all-natural hanger steak with watercress salad and pomme frites, a delicious option cooked to perfection and followed by a chocolate torte and a warm dessert cocktail piled high with whipped cream.

For business travelers, the DELAMAR West Hartford offers both small and large event and meeting spaces, including a unique boardroom with a billiards table. The property is also popular for weddings and large parties.

On the second floor, the spa provides an excellent staff and large menu of facials, massages, body treatments and more. I enjoyed a massage during my stay and after checking in for my treatment, was delivered to a tranquil receiving area, outfitted with two private rooms for changing and storing belongings, as opposed to a traditional public spa locker room. The same reception area is where guests are escorted after their treatments, where they’re served post-treatment bites and tea or prosecco.

The property is pet-friendly, with dogs up to a large size allowed in guestrooms for a $50 nightly fee. A portion of the fee is donated to a local animal charity. When guests with a dog check in, they’re provided several pet amenities, including a pet bed, pet welcome kit and food and water dishes.

The entire stay experience at the DELAMAR West Hartford hotel was a delight, from the guestrooms to the dining to the spa experience. Whether you’re traveling to West Hartford for business or pleasure, the property provides its guests with a comfortable and luxurious retreat where every little detail is taken into consideration, ensuring every guest thoroughly enjoys their stay.
