After five months of quarantine, one of Latin America’s longest lockdowns, Colombia lifted travel restrictions for international travelers.
Spirit Airlines was among the first flights to Colombia (CTG) after restrictions lifted, arriving Sept. 19 from Fort Lauderdale (FLL).
As of Sept. 21, flights from the Dominican Republic, Mexico and other countries were also restored.
“This is a key step for the country to move toward the reactivation of the tourism industry in a safe, regulated and coordinated way. The recovery of international air connectivity was one of the strategic actions that we established in ProColombia. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have worked with airlines to coordinate their return and develop promotional plans to boost their sales. With strict protocols that guarantee the safety of travelers, we hope that nearby countries will visit our destinations with confidence and have the best experiences,” explained Flavia Santoro, president, ProColombia.
While Cartagena’s beaches have yet to reopen, tourists are permitted to travel to San Andres with proof of a negative coronavirus test result. Restaurants, gyms and hotels are at various stages of the reopening process.
Some travel requirements include travelers to present a negative COVID-19 result of a PCR test taken within 96 hours of arrival. Travelers must also present no symptoms of the virus.
Travelers are also required to wear a face mask in airports and on flights. International travelers can get a jump on the process by filing out the online form CheckMig 1–24 hours prior to flight departure.

Remarkable Medellín
Visiting Medellín in Colombia: The Country of Beauty is like stepping into a fantastic story — literally, as the city in the Western Colombian Andes region inspired Disney’s Encanto. Here, valleys, the world’s tallest palms, vibrant communities, colorful houses, garden-like balconies and more prove reality is more picturesque than anything on film. And it’s especially more tempting following Medellín’s remarkable transformation, shedding its troubled past and reawakening as a city of innovation, art, cultural richness, modern infrastructure, thriving tourism and resiliency.

Nov 21, 2024Immerse in an Invigorating Thermal Journey at Scandinave Spa Whistler
The glittering green pines and burst of jasmine lake beyond almost made me forget about the aches in my legs that slowly developed after the promised hour-long hike ran into the third hour. And, oh, there were my hips, showing up to remind me I was no longer in my 20s. I didn’t mind, though, because the vision that surrounded me during our guided walk through Garibaldi Park to Cheakamus Lake in Whistler, British Columbia, with Mountain Skills Academy and Adventures proved worthy of a thousand postcards.

In this city of contrasts, glass skyscrapers stand behind century- old temples. Nov 19, 2024Explore the Beguiling Towns of Sicily’s Val di Noto
Best known to tourists for the boisterous chaos of Palermo, the views of Mount Etna from idyllic Taormina, and for that capricious volcano itself, Sicily has far more to draw travelers. In Sicily’s southeast corner, one region encapsulates the Sicilian spirit that has seen it through conquest and natural disasters, a region less well-known to tourists but one of the island’s most beautiful and fascinating.
