Charlotte Douglas International Airport recently debuted a new 600,000-square-foot overlook area, located less than 2 miles from the airport. Free and open to the public, the space offers views over the terminal and airfield and of the skyline.
Open 8 a.m.–10 p.m., the space includes dedicated areas for food trucks, a covered picnic area, informational displays and even an aviation-themed playground for families. A retired military fighter jet and memorial to USAir flight 1016 also grace the overlook.
The overlook makes for the best spot to peacefully watch planes take off and land at CLT.
