Cathay Pacific is relocating its terminal in New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport to Terminal 8. The move, announced last month, will provide improved access to connecting oneworld flights, particularly those operated by American Airlines.
The Hong Kong-based carrier was previously located in Terminal 7. The final departure from the terminal departed Jan. 15, at 12:45 a.m. The subsequent flights departed from Terminal 8, the airport’s largest passenger terminal — twice the size of Madison Square Garden.
“Moving our operations to Terminal 8 at JFK, the home of our oneworld partner American Airlines, will improve our passengers’ travel experience considerably,” said James Ginns, director of service delivery, Cathay Pacific. “The first-rate facilities and amenities available, in addition to the significant connectivity advantages that the move brings, will further enhance the delivery of our brand promise of a Life Well Traveled.”
First- and business-class travelers, along with eligible Marco Polo Club members, will have access to the terminal’s dining, retail and entertainment options, as well as American Airlines lounges, the Admirals Club or the Flagship Lounge, which is expected to finish renovations in April.
The refurbished Flagship lounge will feature added space, updated interiors, greater privacy and personalized service. A new dining option will feature a seasonal, multi-course menu.
The terminal relocation comes shortly after New York Governor Andrew Cuomo unveiled a multibillion-dollar plan to update the airport.

A ship within a ship. That’s how I’d describe my stay in the Yacht Club on MSC World Europa. This private enclave — a luxury offering becoming more sought-after on cruise lines — includes amenities available only to passengers in this floating oasis. And, as I learned during my voyage, the Yacht Club lends a feeling of exclusivity to the onboard experience.
