Last week I attended a concert at World Café Live in Philadelphia. Located in the University City neighborhood, near the Drexel University and University of Pennsylvania campuses, the venue is easily accessible by car or public transportation. I found a prime parking spot directly across the street from the entrance. We arrived early to have dinner. The venue offers two dining options to complement the event spaces, Upstairs Live and Downstairs Live. We choose Upstairs Live and enjoyed Ahi tuna, portabello tacos and sundried tomato soup. We then ventured to the lower level, Downstairs Live, for the concert.
Norwegian singer/songwriter Sondre Lerche headlined the show. You may recognize his music from the movie Dan in Real Life. Our floor seats, close to the stage, created an intimate feel. Fancy Colors opened the show, then accompanied Sondre Lerche for most of his set. Earlier that day Sondre Lerche posted a message on his Facebook page, asking concert-goers to pick their favorite songs of his. He choose the five most popular and played them during the show. The crowd loved it!
The good acoustics, relaxed environment and friendly servers made the experience feel like a private concert. I recommend checking out World Café Live the next time you’re in Philadelphia.
