This weekend I made the two-hour trek to my alma mater, East Stroudsburg University, to visit one of my old roommates. The temperature was its usual bitter cold, but the grass is green and the trees are starting to bud. We spent some time hanging out around campus and, later, at her apartment. We were going to order in and have a wine and movie night, but then I remembered one of my favorite restaurants — Trackside.

Trackside Station Grill & Bar is a hot spot for university students. Wings are only 45 cents each on Wednesdays, and they serve cheap beer, too. The setup of the restaurant is interesting as well — it is set in a historic train depot.

We went Saturday night, and it was crowded. I ordered the daily special which, in my opinion, is always the best thing to order. On Saturday it was an avocado burger with lettuce and tomato. The burger was delicious, and it brought me back to the many times I would stop by Trackside during finals week to unwind with beer and the daily special. I also ordered my favorite item, the pierogies. The pierogies come either sautéed with butter and onions or deep-fried, and either way they taste divine.

After we ate and downed a couple Blue Moons, my friend and I made our way back to her apartment. We spent the rest of the evening watching old episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and laughing over our college memories.
