I think we can all agree in-person interaction is necessary, almost crucial, for our mental health. While we mastered communication via the internet over the past two-plus years, I think I speak for many when I say the re-introduction of in-person networking and business events has inspired me and become very exciting.
This week I was honored to represent FXExpress Publications, Inc. in the Big Apple for Tourism Ireland’s premiere of Ireland for IMAX, a film narrated by the one-and-only Liam Neeson. Before the crowd was instructed to put on 3-D glasses in the IMAX theater, we were welcomed by the lovely Alison Metcalfe, executive vice president, Tourism Ireland, as well as Niall Gibbons, CEO, Tourism Ireland.
The two shared with us plans for 2022 to inspire travelers to finally book that trip to the island of Ireland. With activations from Hulu commercials to hosting U.S. college football games, there is a great deal of tourism support to go around.
I am always happy to make the short commute to New York City. This time I made a point to stop and visit the famous Magnolia Bakery for a doggy bag filled with banana pudding and chocolate banana pudding to bring home to Philly. I also stopped in Il Violino, an authentic Italian restaurant on the corner of Columbus Avenue, after the event for a delicious bowl of mussels and homemade minestrone soup.
Being part Irish myself with a notably Irish last name, I was inspired by the efforts of Tourism Ireland to expand the knowledge and history of the country to those who may have had it on their bucket list. Even I have the travel bug after watching the phenomenally shot film. The Irish potato chips and chocolate treat in my gift bag certainly helped seal the deal, as well.
Look forward to a great campaign with Visit Ireland that can be found this spring on globaltravelerusa.com. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all!
