We are approaching the middle of July, halfway through summer — it’s sad summer is going so fast, but this means we have the MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 12. This one will be even more exciting because, due to the COVID-shortened season, there was no Mid-Summer Classic last year. The game will take place at Coors Field in Colorado, which always makes for a fun game because balls fly out of this stadium. I have always thought the MLB All-Star Game is the most entertaining and most watchable because, unlike other sports, it actually means something. The league that wins gets homefield advantage in the World Series in the fall.

Being a lifelong sports fan and especially a baseball fan, this is the most excited I have been to watch the All-Star Game in a long time. One reason is because, for the first time since Cliff Lee and Dominic Brown, my favorite team, the Phillies, have more than one All Star: JT Realmuto and Zack Wheeler. I am excited to watch them. Another reason I am excited is because of all the young talent; these guys are so good for the sport because they are fun to watch. Sadly, Ronald Acuna, one of the more electric players, tore his ACL on Saturday and won’t be there. But guys like Fernando Tatis, Jr., Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. and the first-time two-time All-Star in the same season, Shohei Ohtani, will all be out there. I can’t wait to watch them, as they are some of the best and most electric talents I don’t get to see very much as they play in different markets. As for watching the game, my friends are also big-time sports fans, so we will be going out to one of our favorite spots in town, Barnaby’s of West Chester, to grab food and a couple beers to enjoy the game. It should be great!
