Recently named Fan Engagement Specialist for FAN EXPO, “the hardest working man in comics” Victor Dandridge expects to work even harder. As his moniker indicates, he is used to that. In fact, Dandridge wouldn’t have it any other way.
In addition to his new role at FAN EXPO, Dandridge is an award-winning comic author and publisher. Already a fan favorite at comic cons, Dandridge actually has been engaging fans, including me, for years.
I met Dandridge about 20 years ago when he appeared as a creator guest at a comic con. Immediately a fan of his artwork, I quickly appreciated the person behind the creations. Over the years, we became friends. During that time he also segued to the other side of conventions, often running panels or other such interactive programs.
One of the things I most appreciated was his work with youngsters. Dandridge started U Cre-8 Comics, using comics to promote and encourage education fundamentals. U-Cre-8 promotes the Four C’s of Education: creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration.
Dandridge discussed all of this, including the growth of comic cons to become an inclusive, multimillion-dollar industry. They are no longer gatherings of a small niche of society but rather events drawing thousands of fans with a variety of interests.
Dandridge also discussed his travels. He has logged many miles traveling to conventions. With FAN EXPO’s 16 yearly events across North America, Dandridge will add to his mileage. Dandridge talked about his goals while visiting cities and working.
