Earlier this month, my husband and I attended the Savor Borgata food festival in Atlantic City, New Jersey. There were 22 events over the course of the weekend. We had a chance to experience one-of-a-kind dining experiences from the Borgata’s roster of celebrity chefs, including Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay, Michael Symon, Michael Schulson, Geoffrey Zakarian and special guest Alex Guarnaschelli.
We arrived at The Water Club at the Borgata on Friday, then made our way to a dine-around with Michael Schulson. Living near Philadelphia, we’re very familiar with the chef’s award-winning restaurants. We sampled small bites and cocktails from restaurants including Izakaya at Borgata and Giuseppe & Son’s.
Saturday morning we visited the hotel gym to work off some of the food before our lunch plans. We enjoyed an exclusive, behind-the-scenes lunch from the Borgata’s executive chef, Tom Biglan. The indulgent four-course meal was served in the Borgata’s private kitchen. It was fun having a front row seat while our meals were prepared.
I had the opportunity to meet some of the celebrity chefs on site for the festival. I spoke with Bobby Flay and Alex Guarnaschelli about underrated food cities, and both chefs named Philadelphia. I agree wholeheartedly!
After the meet-and-greet, we made our way into the festival. The event space set-up was every foodie’s dream, with numerous stations boasting a variety of cuisine and beverages. We tried to pace ourselves, sampling as much as we could before we were too full.
The annual event is a must for anyone who loves food. Stay tuned for next year’s lineup of special events.
