Saturday Spots in South Jersey

by Katie Skrzek

Jul 20, 2017

Last weekend my husband and I wanted to take advantage of the sunny summer day by exploring some new spots in South Jersey.

First, we stopped at the Collingswood Farmers Market open 8 a.m.–12 p.m., rain or shine, every Saturday from May–November. The market is a favorite stop for us on Saturday mornings. We purchased some New Jersey tomatoes and other local goodies.

After dropping off our purchases, we grabbed water and sunscreen and made our way to the Blueberry Hill Nature Preserve in Gibbsboro for a hike. A first-time visit for both of us, we spent just under two hours exploring the dynamic terrain of the beautiful nature preserve and trails.

Following our challenging hike, we returned to our apartment to get ready for the rest of the day. We made sandwiches using our farmers market haul and took them to Tonewood Brewing. We’ve stopped in the Oaklyn brewery for a beer before, but this was our first time taking advantage of their BYO food policy. The brewery sits at the end of Oaklyn’s main street and has a great neighborhood-spot vibe. A few friends met us to enjoy some brews.

It was a truly lovely day exploring unique neighborhood spots in South Jersey. If you find yourself in the area, make sure to add the Collingswood Farmers Market, Blueberry Hill Nature Preserve and Tonewood Brewing to your itinerary.
