Wind your way from the bustling streets of Los Angeles into the idyllic hills of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Head down the Pacific Coast Highway with the California coast on one side and stunning, ocean-view homes on the other until you get to Terranea Way, and your everyday worries are instantly left behind as you make your way to Terranea Resort.

I was lucky enough to get the inside scoop and have a personal tour of the stunning property, which currently hosts stay-cationers. Whether you’re getting away with your loved one, the girlfriends or a family reunion, you’re going to find all the luxurious comforts you want for the perfect getaway. The suites are stunning, bedding is divine, you have tubs with windows that grant you seaside views, a spa to honor your body for all it does, pools to fit your mood and golfing fit for perfecting your swing. Following are the most unique things I learned about Terranea.

Sea Salt Conservatory
I love food, so it should come as no surprise that one of the coolest things I learned was Terranea’s Sea Salt Conservatory. In 2015, Chef Ibarra established this little corner to develop pristine salts derived from the very waters lining the property. As you can see in the photo here, it is a tiny greenhouse you’d expect to find plants in, but instead you find mounds of salt forming in various containers. Due to the property’s responsible development ,the Pacific waters around Terranea are actually some of the cleanest and the salts have rated some of the highest quality. With that, you can rest assured you’ll enjoy a nicely balanced flavor profile full of minerals you won’t necessarily find elsewhere. You can read more here.

Exemplary Conservation
Following on the responsible conservation angle the property has taken, while exploring different parts of the property we came across a lot of wildlife, lizards and bunnies. Terranea has established partnerships with many important conservation-focused organizations to aid the natural fauna. I learned that since before the property’s inception, the developer’s goal was to make as little impact as possible on the naturescape.

Activities for the Family
With pandemic restrictions behind us, families will find an array of great programs at Pointe Discovery that will take your kids off your hands just long enough for the adults to reconnect poolside, clean up your golf swing or wind down at the spa. Director of community relations Gaye Vancans and her team work very hard to bring you programming with peace of mind and an educational base to engage the little ones.
