This past weekend my husband and I enjoyed two incredible dinners at Philadelphia restaurants.

On Friday night we joined another couple at Laser Wolf. My husband and I dined here once before, and it was the first visit for our friends. The Israeli restaurant specializes in charcoal-grilled meat and vegetable sides. The sides, known as salatim, come for the table, and guests may order meat, fish and vegetables from the grill. Dessert of ice cream or sorbet is also included with your meal. We all agreed the standout of the meal was the salatim. We devoured each component. My favorites: gigante beans, kale babaganoush, grilled carrots, hummus and pita. Three of us ordered the Turkish coffee soft serve, and our friend tried the strawberry sorbet. Overall, it was a great meal with great company.

Saturday night was Round Two of Philly dining for us with dinner at Alice. Our friends have been to the seasonal American restaurant several times and raved about it, so we were excited to experience it for the first time with them. We opted to do the chef’s tasting — which the entire party must participate in. The meal was absolutely incredible from start to finish — one of the best meals I’ve had in recent memory. Beyond the incredible flavors, each dish was thoughtfully presented, from temperature to plating. The menu changes often, though some of my favorites at our visit include tuna crudo, raw oysters, grilled naan, tagliatelle with snap peas and roasted chicken. The restaurant recently began serving brunch. I’m looking forward to our next visits for dinner and to sample the brunch menu.
