I recently visited Pasadena; and while those at home were thinking snow, Pasadena was thinking roses; the Rose Parade, to be specific. It’s a positively perfect venue to welcome in the New Year and hard to find a more fun and colorful event. Hundreds of thousands attend this parade which has flower-covered floats, marching bands and equestrian teams. It is followed by the Rose Bowl tournament, another major New Year’s Day event . . . football!!

Many of us have New Year’s Day traditions, from the types of food we cook to a New Year’s resolution or a parade, a football game, or many of us choose to have another great reason to celebrate with family and friends.
For me, the ideal weather in Pasadena is matched only by the warmth and hospitality of those we met. Warm, laid-back, sun, surf and that California feelin’. It seems to be an excellent way to celebrate the New Year! Whatever your passion, I hope you enjoy your own New Year’s Day tradition; and if you don’t have one, perhaps you’ll consider checking out the Rose Parade! Pull up a seat outdoors and linger for a while . . . you might come up with a resolution or two.
