For those who love to travel, I’m sure you have a little list tucked away deep inside a journal, on a piece of paper, linked to your desktop or mentally embedded in your brain. If your list is anything like mine, it must change periodically based on climate, trends, hobbies and interests. Every year the bucket needs a little dusting and refreshing.
My bucket list consists of more than destinations; it includes restaurants, resorts, hotels, attractions and activities. It is never-ending, impossible to complete because I know there are too many places in this world to check off. Every thought of the world causes the list to lengthen.
Resort World Bimini Beach| Bimini, Bahamas
The brand-new Resorts World Bimini Beach makes it on my Top Five due to its fun, laid-back, boho-chic vibes that align well with my style. Only a two-hour ferry ride from Fort Lauderdale, this is a no-brainer for a weekend escape to paradise. The beach is equipped with private cabanas; two refreshing lagoon pools; dozens of daybeds and hammocks; two bars; and even a DJ booth that headlines major artists, turning the luxury beach into a party. What better weekend destination?
The Grand Bazaar| Istanbul, Türkiye
The historic Grand Bazaar has been on my bucket list for quite some time. It stretches more than 61 covered streets and has been a goal of mine to walk completely through since I was a little girl. My grandparents’ house is filled with hidden treasures from years of collecting from the streets of Istanbul. I want to learn the stories behind the craft of all the luxurious artisan products such as rugs, dishes and jewelry. With Turkish roots, I know my chances of checking this off my list soon are likely.
Giraffe Manor | Africa
Giraffes are one of my favorite animals due to their unique print and lengthy structures. With an Africa experience at the top of my bucket list, I think it would be beyond amazing to stay on property and sip on a coffee accompanied by these furry giants.
Kentucky Derby | Kentucky
I grew up riding horses and competing in competitions, mesmerized by the way the personable creatures flow like the wind. I loved watching films curated around true stories of racehorses and how they helped shape the lives of their owners by forming emotional connections. Although racing is a dangerous sport for both the jockey and the horse, I feel the Kentucky Derby is a must-see event.
Kakslauttanen Resort| Finland
A bit on the pricier side but an experience I think would be unforgettable. I have never seen the northern lights, and the Kakslauttanen Resort would check multiple things off my bucket list such as visiting Finland, sleeping in an igloo and then, of course, viewing the northern lights. I think it would be amazing to get cozy inside a personal igloo in the middle of winter in Finland’s largest national park, absorbing all of the wildlife and nature around me.
Harry Potter World | Universal Studios, FL
Growing up with Harry Potter, I would be amazed to see the fantasy world come to life and experience what it would be like to attend Hogwarts. Only 30 minutes away from where I live, I want to see where the sorting hat would place me. Would I be a Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin or Hufflepuff? Either way, I think it would be fun to roam around the village and taste butterbeer in a playground for all ages.
Taj Mahal, India
I’ve been mesmerized by the virtual sight of the Taj Mahal since I opened up my first history book in second grade. I think India would be the cultural experience of a lifetime. Almost every decorative piece in my house is from India or Türkiye, which puts it at the top of my mind for shopping as well.
Sky Diving in Dubai
Most people are scared of heights and the thought of free-falling out of a moving airplane. I, however, think it would be a satisfying high to leap into the sky overlooking the palms of Dubai.
Boat Through the Zhangjiajie Forest,
Seen in many movies and thought to be science fiction, the make-believe forest of floating mountains commonly seen in avatar actually exists. Brain shocker! I want nothing more than to explore the dark and mystical forest in China.
Eat at The Modern Toilet Restaurant, Taiwan
I think the concept of eating out of the toilet is hilarious, although some might find it disturbing. The Taiwan restaurant is designed where guests sit on a toilet bowl seat and enjoy delicious Thai food scooped directly out of the toilet. How funny is that?! I must go!
