Founded in 1730, Cold Spring sits on the deepest point of the Hudson River, across from West Point in Putnam County, New York. Approximately an hour and fifteen minutes by train from Grand Central Terminal, Cold Spring is a quaint little village popular with those trying to escape the city for a weekend getaway.
We took my mom there for lunch and a stroll around town for Mother’s Day. Walking around, we window-shopped the antique, thrift and book shops throughout the village while enjoying breathtaking views of the Hudson River.
For lunch we went to Riverview, a family-owned, contemporary American restaurant with seasonally inspired menus featuring fresh seafood, brick-oven pizza and creative daily specials. Overlooking spectacular views of the Hudson River and Storm King Mountain, we had the ideal table.
To start, we shared burrata and prosciutto di parma, crab and spinach dumplings, and a large baked clam. For our main course we had a brick-oven pizza, pan-roasted haddock and linguine alle vongole. Everything was so fresh and delicious! We ended our day with ice cream at the local ice cream and dessert shop. It was the perfect location to spend the perfect day with my perfect mother.
