Last weekend was the middle weekend of Milwaukee’s Summerfest. With more than 800 acts and 1,000 performances on 11 stages spread across nine days, Summerfest is the world’s largest music festival.

There are so many musicians we wanted to see, but the sheer volume made it impossible to see it all. It is taking a lot of logistical planning to see as many as we can. How does one choose between Joan Jett, George Thoroughgood, Sheryl Crow and Ani DiFranco? ZZ Top, Green Day, Weezer, Dave Matthews Band, Miley Cyrus, Guns N’ Roses, Styx, REO Speedwagon and so many more favorites are performing at Summerfest.

Hard choices like this have to be made every day. On the plus side, any of the options is a winner. We tended to see more of the older acts, but we squeezed in as many as we could.

Other hard choices centered around food. When in Wisconsin, cheese curds are a must, as is frozen custard. We had plenty of both. It would be an injustice if I named any place as the best because we had so many outstanding samplings.

There is still one more weekend to enjoy Summerfest. It will be an extra-special weekend, as the Chicago Cubs play at Miller Park against the first-place Brewers. The Cubs are struggling this season, but this rivalry is always exciting. We are planning on staying in Milwaukee all weekend instead of making daily trips from Chicago.

Costa Rica Lures with Modern Amenities, Rural Charm and a Simple Way of Life

When I first visited Costa Rica, I was ostensibly there for business. But after a few days in this tropical paradise, my trip started to feel more like a vacation than work. This isn’t to say I neglected my obligations, rather that my work meetings felt more pleasurable (and productive) than usual. The gorgeous jungle landscape combined with the pura vida lifestyle is a simply infectious combination, and it’s unsurprising the nation consistently ranks as the most popular tourist destination in Central America.
