Looking Ahead to August

by Chris Sager

Jun 11, 2019

Coming up in August in Chicago, the Global Traveler team will take our annual trip to attend the Global Business Travel Association Convention. As the largest gathering of business travel professionals in the world, GBTA presents an incredible opportunity to see the recent progress and scheduled changes within the world of business travel. Each year roughly 7,000 attend, and more than 175 education sessions are featured.

Not only does this annual showing allow for important updates on the rapidly changing business travel landscape, it also allows us to reach attendees in two different and unique ways. The first is through our distribution of both the July and Global City Guidebook issues to every attendee at the convention. Upon entry, guests will be able to check out the issues, both released in July as a poly-bagged insert.

The second way is through The Trazees, Trazee Travel’s annual awards ceremony that honors the very best in millennial travel as voted by the readers. Held this year on Aug. 6 at The Claridge House from 6:30–9:30 p.m., industry leaders will gather to celebrate their accomplishments and discuss what is next on the horizon for the coveted and fast-growing millennial market.

Overall, GBTA presents the opportunity to experience what I have heard so much about within the travel industry. If you will be in attendance this year or would like to attend The Trazees, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at chris.sager@globaltravelerusa.com.

Remarkable Medellín

Visiting Medellín in Colombia: The Country of Beauty is like stepping into a fantastic story — literally, as the city in the Western Colombian Andes region inspired Disney’s Encanto. Here, valleys, the world’s tallest palms, vibrant communities, colorful houses, garden-like balconies and more prove reality is more picturesque than anything on film. And it’s especially more tempting following Medellín’s remarkable transformation, shedding its troubled past and reawakening as a city of innovation, art, cultural richness, modern infrastructure, thriving tourism and resiliency.
