The Chicago area just got a lot brighter, thanks to the Let It Shine Light Show. The production was so popular last year, it expanded to three locations this year.

Last night, Chicagoland’s premier Christmas light show returned to Northbrook, with Schaumburg and Aurora debuting next week. Each location has a different, brand-new, drive-through show featuring more than 1 million lights. Held every night through Jan. 9, the duration of the shows vary depending on time, day and weather, but the vehicles move at a leisurely 3 mph, guaranteeing all enough time to enjoy the light show.

Vehicles move through light tunnels and under light arches, weaving through the amazing light displays. There are lit Christmas trees, assorted traditional holiday figures and decorative shapes. Music is synchronized to the lights and available through FM radio.

The Let It Shine Light Show is simply spectacular. Words and pictures do not capture the brilliance of this display. This is now a regular holiday event for my friends.
I prefer going after sunset to see the lights really sparkle in the darkness. With three locations, I might go again to a different spot after a big snowfall for the added wintery effect.
