I just arrived back to the cold after spending a month in the beautiful area of Jupiter, Fla.
I am the proud daughter of what many people would call “snowbirds,” meaning my parents spend half of the year in New Jersey and then flee to Florida at the first sign of the dreaded winter. This strategic move has given me the wonderful opportunity to visit Florida quite a bit.
Although there are many beautiful beaches along the east coast of Florida, the Juno Dog Beach in Jupiter tops my list.
It may not be as manicured or as swanky as the ones you might find in Boca Raton or Miami, but it has something not many others can claim — dogs!
As an owner of two pups, it’s hard to find a beach that will allow my furry friends on to the sand to play. Juno Dog Beach is one of the few remaining dog-friendly beaches in Florida.
Even if you don’t have any pets, I’ve found, through making the trip solo, the beach is full of friendly, well-trained dogs that love to play, even with strangers.
All pups aside, this stretch of beach is absolutely stunning. Its white sands reach far toward the dazzling, ever-changing blue of the Atlantic — giving you some much-needed space from other beach-goers.
As far as attractions go, there isn’t a spot on the sand or in the water you won’t find someone doing an athletic activity. Many people take advantage of the area for kite surfing, paddle boarding, fishing, surfing and walks along the manicured sidewalks.
There is no shortage of activities to get involved in or, if you’re like me, you’ll enjoy watching the athletic people from a beach chair.
I always suggest coming late afternoon to avoid weekend crowds and bringing a cooler of drinks and snacks to sustain you long enough to catch the sorbet-colored sunsets.
