I recently received a tasty delivery — three pints of Guava Lime Cocktail Ice Cream, a collaboration between Atlantis Paradise Island and Tipsy Scoop, New York City’s liquor-infused ice cream experts. The two teamed up to create the ice cream in time for summer. This limited-edition flavor features a coconut ice cream base infused with rum and guava.
Last night, my husband and I sat down to enjoy the ice cream, and I’m not kidding when I tell you we were instantly transported from our couch to the Bahamas. The ice cream tasted like the islands, with a fresh, light flavor. The ice cream wasn’t heavy, and reminded us of a cross between an ice cream, a sherbet and a sorbet. My husband instantly gave it “two thumbs up!” And with temperatures nearing 90 degrees here, it was just the sweet treat we needed — I can imagine it is extremely refreshing to enjoy a scoop poolside in the heat. When I eat alcohol-infused items, I often find the liquor taste overpowering. But not with the ice cream, where the rum served as more of a complement to the other flavors.
The Guava Lime Cocktail Ice Cream is still available at both Tipsy Scoop locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn through May 27. You can also order some on the website, and it can be shipped nationally.
