For some of us, the 2019 travel season has started! I write to you from 38,000 feet in the air as I make my way to the West Coast for my first business trip of the year. In previous posts I shared my decision to be more conscious about what I put in my body and my desire to commit to a healthier lifestyle. A lot of people focus on a temporary result — like losing 10 pounds before July 4, but a healthy lifestyle goes beyond a slim body and normal cholesterol levels.
Unfortunately, I tend to stress a bit about my meals. Making the right choices is not always easy; but if you’re prepared, there is nothing to worry about (plus you save time, money and the inevitable guilt trip). As I recently started traveling more, this has become more challenging. If my trip includes lunch meetings, I feel at ease because I have a time allocated for at least one meal; and since I usually fast until noon, breakfast isn’t a big concern for me.
However, this is not always the case, which is why I am so grateful I received my WhereverFamily e-newsletter while I was packing for this trip. In her “Lose Weight on Vacation” article, Rina Nehdar gives us important and helpful tips to hold ourselves accountable during business and leisure trips. I followed some of her recommended ideas and packed a couple meal replacement protein shakes and a blender bottle, as well as my own sweeteners for my coffee and teas — this low-carb life isn’t easy. I also packed snacks like almonds and energy bars to avoid buying unhealthy snacks at the airport.
This definitely helped me feel less anxious and kept me on track between flights. Luckily, now I have lunch to bring with me to my meetings and don’t have to stress about time and overeating at dinner to make up for missed meals.
Make sure to read the full article on WhereverFamily and subscribe to our newsletter while you’re there!
Until next time…
