In my opinion, seafood from the Northeast coast is the best you’re ever going to find. The scallops, lobster and crab are second-to-none — hardly even worth eating if you’re anywhere else.
So when I mentioned I wanted some great seafood while in Baltimore, the same response kept coming back again and again.
“Go to Mo’s.”
My colleagues from Philadelphia: “Go to Mo’s.” The lady in line at the train station: “Oh, you have to go to Mo’s.” Even my Uber driver: “Oh yeah, definitely go to Mo’s.”
So after walking the harbor a bit and enjoying cooler, overcast weather, I realized I was closer to Mo’s than I expected, and I walked in at 11:15 a.m.
As unassuming as its food is delicious, Mo’s Seafood was everything I needed after six days on the road.
I ordered the Crab Trio with crab cake, snow crab and imperial crab and a side of vegetables. When my waiter brought it out, I think he secretly wondered how the heck I was going to eat it all! When I saw the size of the dish, let’s just say I was glad I’d skipped breakfast.
Although I went through five napkins, I cracked every crab leg, dipped each piece of crab meat in warm butter, and licked my fingers clean. As I finished the imperial crab (a crab cake lightly baked with a mayonnaise sauce and seasonings), I found myself making the kind of noises one makes when words can’t describe how delicious the food is. Not to be outdone, I even enjoyed half the regular crab cake and a few veggies.
The Inner Harbor location isn’t flashy, but the seafood certainly speaks for itself. The portion size is generous, and the flavor is outstanding.
Without a doubt, I’m happy to join the resounding chorus of those around me and emphatically repeat the phrase, “Go to Mo’s.”
