A unique luxurious train experience is coming to the United States in 2021. Rocky Mountaineer plans to debut its spacious, glass-domed train on a Colorado route running between the Rockies and Red Rocks in Colorado.
Rocky Mountaineer currently runs three luxury train routes in Canada, from Vancouver to Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper, three towns in the Canadian Rockies. Passengers choose the city to start and end their trip. Each train offers 360-degree views through the custom-designed glass-domed coaches and the outdoor viewing porches. The trains travel by day, and passengers sleep in hotels at night. Founded in 1990, Rocky Mountaineer is the largest privately owned luxury tourist train in the world, having served more than 2.2 million travelers.
There are two packages available. The SilverLeaf includes an informative host, gourmet meals and beverages in a single-level domed car. The SilverLeaf Plus includes all the benefits of the SilverLeaf, plus exclusive, unlimited access to a lounge car, an elevated dining experience with an additional course during select meals, and premium alcoholic beverages.
The Rockies to the Red Rocks trip launches Aug. 15, with 40 total trips running through Oct. 23. The new route runs between Denver and Moab, with an overnight stop in Glenwood Springs. Rocky Mountaineer is working with local groups to secure custom vacation packages highlighting the region.
“Rocky Mountaineer will bring a new luxury train tour to explore the historic rail route between Denver and Moab. Over the past 30 years, Rocky Mountaineer has become renowned for our world-class train travel experiences, and now we are opening our newest train experience in the region where train travel history began,” said Peter Armstrong, founder Rocky Mountaineer. “This region, with its magnificent scenery, national parks, vast opportunities to explore, will delight millions.”
These train rides are not about speed or the destination. The journey is a relatively slow ride with incredible views along the way. Rocky Mountaineer promises an unequaled, magnificent experience.
Having family and friends in the Denver area, the “Rockies to Red Rocks” trip would be a fun group experience when I visit. It’ll be a fantastic way to see the area as we have never seen it.
