I recently wrote about my 5k Walk/Fun Run for Cancer research that my mom, family and a dedicated committee organize each year in memory of my late father, Allan E. Makowski, Sr. This year I was moved to receive support from my FXExpress family. My co-workers purchased raffle tickets, and the CEO, Francis X. Gallagher, even sponsored a course sign for the event!
The event went off without a hitch, and we had beautiful weather. Local news organizations were present to add additional coverage, and the crowd stood together in hopes to raise awareness and funds through participation and donations. The proceeds from the walk will benefit the Lungevity Foundation, the nation’s leading nonprofit in the fight toward curing lung cancer. Its national network of support and education for caregivers, survivors and donors helps encourage and fund new early detection methods and treatments. I have been a volunteer with the committees for multiple events over the years, including Breathe Deep NYC for a few years as well.
We are not quite at our overall fundraising goal this year, but there is still an opportunity to donate to our walk’s goal of $20,000 by clicking this link, www.lungevity.org/nepa. I will continue to honor my Dad’s memory through my connection with the Lungevity Foundation, and I am so grateful for the support and kindness shown by my FXExpress family! June was our Wellness edition, so the sponsorship fit perfectly with the theme. There are many ways to participate in activities that are both healthy for you and support a great cause; think ahead and plan to see how your physical fitness investment could be connected with a nonprofit and see the multiple upsides to participating in an event near you.

Remarkable Medellín
Visiting Medellín in Colombia: The Country of Beauty is like stepping into a fantastic story — literally, as the city in the Western Colombian Andes region inspired Disney’s Encanto. Here, valleys, the world’s tallest palms, vibrant communities, colorful houses, garden-like balconies and more prove reality is more picturesque than anything on film. And it’s especially more tempting following Medellín’s remarkable transformation, shedding its troubled past and reawakening as a city of innovation, art, cultural richness, modern infrastructure, thriving tourism and resiliency.
