Last week was my first trip to Bermuda, and it definitely will not be my last. One town that stood out was St. George. Many of you may already know, but St. George is the oldest town, located on the east side of the island.
I was lucky enough to make some time to explore this hidden gem with the best tour guide on the entire island. Kristin White has lived in St. George all her life, and I was pleased to meet her thanks to Christi Tucker, a good friend.
I felt so special getting a private tour of this historic town. Tobacco Bay Beach was a perfect first stop, where you can sip on a swizzle and enjoy the amazing view with some great music. A swizzle, for those not aware, is the island’s signature punch and simply delicious … fruity and refreshing, but be careful how many you have, as it has a number of different liquors in it which you don’t taste.
From there we had a history tour, and one of my favorite spots was the unfinished church. Although this building was never completed (and I won’t spoil the secret), it was so beautiful. People come from all around to have their weddings, events and photo shoots here, like Vogue.
Tempest Bistro was the last stop and perfect timing since I was ready for some Bermudian cuisine. As an Italian woman, I’ve had my fair share of prosciutto, but I have to say this is the best I’ve ever tasted, and it was duck. If you are traveling to Bermuda, make sure you get the best of St. George with Kristin. Bermuda is so much more than clear oceans and palm trees, so make the most of your visit. Until next time . . .
