In the seven years I have lived in the United States, I have yet to meet someone who dislikes the fall. Year after year, this seems to be the season everyone looks forward to the most, and I am convinced this is mainly because of pumpkin-spiced EVERYTHING. Oh! And fashion, of course.
I am determined to make the best out of the season this year, and I started by taking my little brother, Abdiel Alexander, to his first-ever Fall Harvest Fair this past Sunday. The event took place between 60th and 61st streets and West End Avenue; and although it was hotter than I’d like to admit, we had a great time.
It was great to see all of the local businesses participate and put something together for the families of this neighborhood. The event had a pumpkin-painting section, bounce castles, farm animals, face painting, cotton candy stations and a group of really great entertainers who kept the kids dancing and smiling at all times. My favorite part? The free Philly cheesesteak and the cheese fries I got from Gary’s Steaks — one of the food trucks that participated in the event.
Overall, my brother and I had a lovely afternoon and a bit of a sugar rush toward the end.
