On my recent trip to Aruba, we took advantage of a unique tour of the island with Fofoti Tours.
We toured the island on a UTV — a 4×4 off-road vehicle. The 3.5-hour tour took us through some of Aruba’s most iconic attractions. After instructions on how to operate the vehicle, we were off! The tour also included admission to Arikok National Park and roundtrip transfers to our hotel. In addition to adventure tours, the company provides transportation around the island for groups or individuals.
Our first stop was Arikok National Park. The rough, desert terrain features a stunning natural pool caused by rugged rock formations along the coast, perfect for a one-of-a-kind dip. After enjoying the water, we made our way to the Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins. The abandoned gold mill once processed ore from the nearby hills during Aruba’s gold rush. Now the ruins make for some great photos. Our final stop was Alto Vista Chapel. The small chapel is on the site of the first Catholic church in Aruba built in the 1700s. The present-day church was rebuilt in 1952 and draws large crowds of Catholics and Protestants alike.
The UTV tour was the perfect way to experience a bit of Aruba’s history, while also exploring the island.

Apr 30, 2025Relais Villa Porta Review
Tucked into a Lake Maggiore enclave overlooking the Gulf of Colmegna, Relais Villa Porta is an idyllic place to take in a side of the Italian Lakes region that’s different from buzzy Lake Como during high season. In 1820, it was built as a hunting lodge, and by the end of the century, was transformed into an inn by Leopoldo Casnedi. Over time, the surrounding parkland was further enhanced with rare plants collected by Pietro Porta, its second owner and botanist, as well as regular guests wanting to support his efforts. This ensured the inn would ultimately sit pretty within a 10,000-square-meter park surrounding the main villa, a 19th-century Liberty-style greenhouse and original Villa Porta mosaic.
