Monday afternoon my sister called to see if I had plans. As most people do on Mondays, my night looked like snuggles on the couch with my dog, watching an engaging show — which, for me, right now, is American Horror Stories. My sister let me know her coworkers were going out to the Positivi – TEA drag show down the street from me and that I should join. I already had an outfit in mind for a night out, so I agreed.

My friend Matty and I met up for a drink at my apartment before the show and waited for my sister. She came right at 6 p.m., when the doors of the venue, Level Up Bar and Lounge, opened for us to grab a seat. The three of us bopped around to some music and sipped on some cosmos while waiting for the show to start.

The show was hosted by the dynamic duo Miss MorganMorganMorgan and Dominique Lee. They opened the show with a fabulous song and dance that made the crowd get pumped up for the rest of the night. Glitter, glam and big hair stormed the room with the performances of Mya Diction and Paula Deen-White. Their energy, enthusiasm and spectacular dancing and acrobatic moves had me in awe. I can only wish to be as flexible as some of these queens!

When it came time for a quick intermission, I ordered cheesesteak eggrolls and tater tots. It was the exact meal I was craving. The music ramped up again, and the second half of the show began. Mya Diction did a performance that made the entire room cry. As a recovering addict, she let the choice of song, her interpretation of it and her emotions shine through. There was not a dry eye in the room.

When the show ended, we said our goodbyes and went home. Since the show started early, I was home on my couch with my dog by 10 p.m.
