Dining in Collingswood

Collingswood Restaurant Week took place in my town earlier this month. My husband and I took the opportunity to grab dinner with a couple friends and experience some of our favorite spots.

First up, Sapori. The owner of the Italian restaurant moved from Palermo, Italy, in the 1990s before eventually settling in New Jersey. The restaurant delivers dishes from various parts of the country. You won’t find chicken Parmigiana on the menu. We met our friends at the restaurant and decided to share a few different items. Up first, beef carpaccio with arugula, oil, lemon and Parmigiano Reggiano. We also enjoyed a beet salad and a special appetizer with tuna. For our pasta course, we split a special pasta with chestnuts, casarecce with shrimp and penne with eggplant. Finally, for our main course, we split a special of halibut and a pork tenderloin dish. It was a great meal with great friends.

Our next stop later in the week: Il Fiore. For our meal at this Italian restaurant, we opted for the traditional fixed-price restaurant week menu. At five courses, it was a great way to experience the restaurant’s offerings. I started with a caprese salad of tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil and olive oil. Up next was a simple but refreshing house salad. The third course was the same for all diners: penne with vodka sauce. As my main course, I chose filet mignon with a side of mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. Can’t forget about dessert! I ended my meal with tiramisu.

Sapori and Il Fiore are both great Italian options with different offerings. If you find yourself in Collingswood, I would recommend dining at either restaurant.
