If you like theater, Chicago is the place to be Feb. 16–23. In its 11th year, Chicago Theatre Week is presented by the League of Chicago Theatres in partnership with Choose Chicago.

Chicago Theatre Week features discounted tickets to performances at more than 200 Chicago-area theaters. Productions include improv comedy, drama, musicals and other entertainment offerings. Last year more than 10,500 tickets were sold for 400 individual performances of 60 different shows. Most ticket prices are $30 or $15, although some are even less.
We started planning our selections as soon as the participating shows were announced. While it produced debate and compromise, we decided on a few, including Drunk Shakespeare at The Lion Theatre, Blue Man Group at Briar Street Theatre, and Chlorine Sky at Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Depending on schedules, we might add one or two more.
While Chicago Theatre Week shines the spotlight on area stages, its impact goes beyond the specific performances. In addition to seeing great performances at low prices, I always visit different venues from my usual choices. It’s an opportunity to see different theaters and different parts of the area. That also means new restaurants, too.
