Two weeks ago my fiancé and I traveled to New York City to pick out our wedding bands. This past weekend my younger brother came to town to spend his birthday with us.
We picked him up from the airport Friday afternoon and enjoyed a home-cooked meal and movie night. We knew we would have a busy few days, so we took advantage of extra sleep.
Saturday morning we drove to Princeton Junction Station for the train to New York City. We wanted to show my brother as much as possible, as this was his first time on the East Coast and in NYC, so we rode the train to Newark Penn Station and switched over to the subway to World Trade Center Station. This allowed us to show Trevor the 9/11 memorial, Wall Street, Battery Park and the Statue of Liberty. Thankfully, it was a gorgeous day! Hopping on the subway to Central Park with a pit stop for lunch at Ray’s Pizza, we ventured into the beautiful greenery.
We then surprised my brother by checking into Millennium Times Square.
Time went by and dinner was calling, so we made our way to 5 Napkins Restaurant for some amazing burgers and sides! We walked around Times Square for a bit before turning in.
This hotel did not offer breakfast, so we were on our own with granola bars before we made our way to the diamond district to pick up our wedding bands. Unfortunately, the store was closed due to a family emergency, so our rings will be shipped. Walking around the city, we stumbled upon the rooftop bar Daniel and I previously visited and decided this would be the perfect spot to take Trevor for his birthday lunch.
We took the train home but made a pit stop at Princeton University to show Trevor where Daniel works and around the beautiful Ivy League campus. We were a tad early in the season for the true fall foliage to be in full swing, but slowly the trees are changing colors.
Dinner and dessert at home wrapped up our little adventure. While I was at work Monday, the boys ventured into Philadelphia to explore together.
I am so glad that Trevor was able to make his way over to the Northeast and see our home here.

Apr 16, 2025Grand Hotel Des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz Review
Switzerland’s most storied ski town (the one, in fact, credited with pioneering the very concept of Alpine tourism), St. Moritz legendarily attracts the rich, the famous, celebutantes and the wannabes. Yet, there’s something compellingly earthy about the place, a town on a lake rich with natural environs, where winter sports and summer activities draw athletes and mountain lovers aplenty. As at the mountain restaurants (where some arrive by chairlift rather than muscle movement, and all types of diners and imbibers convene), Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz straddles the old and new, the lavish and the understated. The hotel, one of St. Moritz’s oldest, opened as a spa haven in 1864, set atop a healing mineral spring.
