Over the weekend a few friends and I went to Tyler State Park, located just five minutes from my house. When we were younger, we spent a lot of time there.
We’ve all grown up and moved away, so it is nice to be able to regroup and enjoy some nostalgia by doing some of our old favorite activities.
At Tyler there are a few secret spots only locals would know. For instance, down by the Boat House entrance to the park, a long path leads all the way to Bucks County Community College’s campus, but that is not where we were headed.
Our stop was about halfway down that same trail, to the rope swing. Many past weekends were spent launching into the murky water, and we were excited to do it again.
To our surprise, when we arrived we were met with only sadness. The rope swing we so enjoyed for many years had been cut down.
It is a shame to lose something that brought so much joy to my group of friends, but we could understand why this was done — the rope swing was never exactly “safe.” We sat there for a while, reminiscing about the good times — and the bad — had at one of our favorite hangouts.
