The GT staff is fresh off our jaunt to New York City, where we celebrated the seventh annual GT Tested Reader Survey awards. As always, we stayed in some top hotels and look forward to bringing the readers more information on some of the best places to stay in the city in upcoming issues of the magazine. Not to spoil my hotel review, but I was staying at The Peninsula New York, on 55^th Street and Fifth Avenue. After a car ride into NYC and a meeting, I was eager to settle in and unwind a bit before joining the staff for dinner that evening. When I checked into my room, I was surprised — in a good way — and touched by a very personalized welcome gift in the room. Beautifully displayed on an oval white plate and accompanied by an assortment of chocolates, were three freshly baked cupcakes. Two were adorned with an “I Love the Peninsula New York” logo and in the center was a cupcake personalized with a Global Traveler logo. Talk about attention to detail.
