A Change of Scenery

I’m sure most of us could use one by now! As travelers, it’s not in our nature to stay in the same place for too long. I was feeling antsy to break free of my house but still wanted to be mindful and responsible with the current situation. Luckily, my fiancé’s family has a cabin in the Poconos Mountains, in Pennsylvania, that is fairly remote and lends itself well to social distancing. So last weekend we packed the car with groceries from our house, as well as our two cats, and headed north.

It was a much-needed break — especially as we’re currently nearing our original wedding date and a distraction from everything was essential. There’s no cable or internet up there, so we could turn off the news and enjoy the peace of nature. And, thankfully, the weather cooperated. It was an absolutely gorgeous weekend. We were lucky to have the retreat as an option for escape, and I took advantage of the weekend with a healthy dose of gratitude alongside it. With a holiday weekend looming ahead, I hope some of you are also able to take advantage of a change of scenery responsibly!
