Alabama’s Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport will see the opening of its first premium lounge: Primeclass Lounge, a 1,000-square foot space in the airport’s Concourse B.
The airport, Alabama’s busiest, saw a record 3 million passengers in 2019. The airport will open the Primeclass Lounge later this year, located beyond the airport’s security checkpoints and including a reception desk carved from Alabama dolomite, workstations, high-speed internet, TVs and a business center.
“There are three million passengers coming through Birmingham on a yearly basis, but there’s no central lounge,” said Allen Forrest, CEO, Forrest Group, which is building the lounge.
“This is about bringing local economic development to the community.”
Primeclass Lounges also operate facilities in airports in Palm Beach (PBI), San Diego (SAN), Washington, D.C. (IAD), and New York (JFK). The Turkish company operates lounges in 15 international destinations, most branded as Primeclass Lounges, but a few operated on behalf of airlines.
