Avani + Barbarons Seychelles Resort, first opened in 2015 as one of the brand’s earliest resort properties, is completing a multimillion-dollar upgrade, expected to reopen in spring 2025. The resort will add the significant + symbol in its name when it welcomes guests again to the newly revitalized Avani + Barbarons Seychelles Resort. “AVANI+” is Avani’s elevated brand extension; properties are categorized as “AVANI+” based on location, design, extra facilities and F&B outlets.
The resort, in the western Indian Ocean, has received a full makeover with new restaurant options and a beach club, plus a brand-new extension — a lagoon-style swimming pool with lagoon access rooms, and the introduction of Avani beach suites.
The substantial refurbishment will have a more contemporary look and feel while maintaining the landscape’s natural environment. The upgraded resort will present a minimalist style with lots of natural wood, smart lighting, and partially outdoor guest bathrooms where tropical nature and modern touches combine to create a great effect.
Picture windows in the living rooms frame the beach, with a comfortable daybed for reading or napping. In addition to refurbishing the existing 124 guestrooms and suites, an additional 68 rooms are being added in a completely new extension to the resort, which adds new room types, bringing the total guestroom count to 192.
The new extension will feature 26 new Lagoon Access rooms, which give guests direct access to the new lagoon-style swimming pool set back from the beach alongside landscaped gardens, while the 26 lagoon-view rooms offer views of the pool and ocean. The four new Avani beach suites, each with four rooms, form a private cluster of accommodations ideal for groups of friends and families. The resort’s upgrade also includes its main swimming pool, now an infinity pool with a sunken bar and beach decking, all surrounded by lush, tropical landscaping.
The addition of several new restaurants includes a new, all-day dining option with an al-fresco terrace, and a large barbecue area serving breakfast and Creole and international cuisine. A signature beach restaurant promotes local flavors, focusing on locally caught fish and seafood. The new beach club bar with a DJ offers cocktails served by experienced mixologists.
Located on the west coast of Mahé, the largest island in the Seychelles archipelago, this property sits on the white sands of Barbarons Beach. Port Launay Beach is located just a 15-minute drive up the coast, offering nice swimming conditions and gear for many water sports. Seychelles International Airport, near the capital city of Victoria, is just 30 minutes away from the resort.
