American Airlines strengthens ties with our friends to the north.
Starting this spring, American will add service from its Chicago (ORD) hub to Calgary (YYC) and Vancouver (YVR).
Daily service to Vancouver begins May 4, and seasonal service to Calgary begins June 7. The airline will also increase frequencies from the U.S. East Coast to eastern Canada and extend seasonal service to popular Canadian destinations.
“We began service to Canada over 75 years ago, making it our longest-served international destination,” said Vasu Raja, vice president, network and schedule planning, American Airlines. “The country is filled with important businesses and exciting leisure destinations so it’s only natural that we are adding more flights and providing better schedules to explore all that the country has to offer.”
A Boeing 737-800 aircraft will operate the Vancouver flight, and an Embraer E175 operated by Envoy will serve the Calgary route.
American also added an additional winter trip between Phoenix (PHX) and Edmonton (YEG), increasing to two daily flights through April 2; and beginning Feb. 15, the airline will add a trip between New York (LGA) and Toronto (YYZ). May 4, it will add a trip from Washington, D.C. (DCA) to Toronto, and an additional frequency between Philadelphia (PHL) and Ottawa (YOW).
With these new services, American will offer up to 69 daily flights from seven Canadian cities to U.S. hubs in Charlotte (CLT), Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), Philadelphia, Phoenix and Washington, D.C.
