Explore the serene and remote Banda Islands, also called the Spice Islands, with expert-crafted itineraries by Aliikai Luxury Yacht, a provider of luxury yacht experiences for exploring Indonesia’s natural beauty.
Specializing in crafting unforgettable journeys, Aliikai Luxury Yacht offers customized itineraries to some of Indonesia’s most beautiful destinations. A recommended itinerary includes an eight-day, seven-night excursion focusing on the Banda Islands, a chain of small volcanic islands situated between Timor and West Papua. These islands are rarely accessible to travelers and offer a rich history, as well as some of the most magnificent marine life in this part of the world.

Guests travel on the 135-foot Aliikai, built in the phinisi-style in the small village of Bulukumba, South Sulawesi. In the 19th century, Sulawesian sailors began to combine the traditional tanja rig with fore-and-aft rig from Western ships sailing through the archipelago. Pinisi evolved from the base hull of Padewakang with front-and-aft rig to its own hull model with a native “pinisi rig.” The luxury yacht Aliikai took more than three years to build, with meticulous craftsmanship by Indonesian carpenters and artisans.
Having recently been refitted with a redesigned interior, Aliikai offers seven spacious cabins designed with contemporary Indonesian interiors, with each cabin having its own special amenities including outdoor terraces, high-end fixtures and linens, an indoor lounge and dining area with wrap-around glass windows, and an airy upper-deck lounge for yoga sessions which transforms into an outdoor cinema at night.

The yacht also contains a scuba-diving preparation room, a well-fitted kitchen where guests can participate in cooking workshops, and an on-site chef and crew. Adventure gear includes paddle boards, kayaks, scuba diving gear for daily dives with PADI dive expert’s and licensed instructors, water skis, surfboards and a beach volleyball setup when docking on islands.
Aliikai’s comfortable and large living spaces and sailing capabilities make it one of Indonesia’s most sought-after, phinisi-style yachts. Chartering Aliikai to explore the largest wild archipelago in the world is an unparalleled experience. Throughout the year, Aliikai will open a limited number of voyages for private groups of 14–15 persons, or sold by the cabin to smaller groups, couples and honeymooners who would like to experience tailor-made itineraries and unique experiences.

The Banda Islands voyage starts at arrival at Ambon Airport Indonesia, followed by visits to the following islands: Ambon Island, Nusa Lautt, Pulau Run, Pulau Ay, Banda Besar, Banda Neira and Pisang Island, returning to Ambon Airport at the conclusion of the voyage.
A detailed itinerary aboard Aliikai, focusing on the Banda Islands, is available by request on the Aliikai Voyage website.

Corfu, or Kerkyra, as the Greeks call it, is arguably one of the most beautiful islands in Greece — and one of the most cultured. Part of the Ionian Islands located off the western coast of Greece and Albania, it boasts a storied history dating back nearly 3,000 years and a heritage shaped by many foreign rulers who made it their own.

May 14, 2025Hotel Van Zandt Review
One step onto Austin’s Rainey Street and you’ll feel like you’ve joined the cool kids at the best playground in the city. Just behind the cottage bars, pint-sized skyscrapers soar. One of them, Hotel Van Zandt, the Rainey district's pièce de resistance, beckons with a song-like spirit —apropos because the independently owned property, rife with music motifs, was named after beloved singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt. Sixteen stories high, the hotel embodies Austin’s lust for music, manifesting with a vinyl corner; trumpet chandeliers; myriad musical references; replica vintage posters in frames; and its own live music venue, which doubles as its acclaimed restaurant, Geraldine’s. Don’t miss the mesmerizing installation of colorful origami-like birds composed from vinyl records that flitter from an old phonograph.
