Recently opened Boxwood Restaurant at the London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills provides a welcome and much-needed shot of adrenaline to the decade-plus-old property from both a design and a gastronomic standpoint. Furthermore, Executive Chef Anthony Keene and his team raised the stakes this summer to meet rising temperatures with special offerings at the outdoor space, Boxwood on the Roof.
Though this breezy rooftop dining experience involves a full menu, the appetizers are the stars of the show. Seaworthy offerings include a variety of Pacific and Eastern oysters, including the Rockefeller-style oyster with creamy spinach, Pernod and Kumamoto oysters. An assortment of hand-rolled sushi and classic seaside favorites like miso brass crostini and ceviche plantains help to round out the raw bar menu.
While the current general cocktail menu is influenced by the recent royal wedding of Prince Harry and Los Angeles’ favorite daughter, Meghan Markle (The Markle Sparkle, naturally), Tuesday summer cocktail specials are influenced by the radiant powers of crystals and precious stones. You may not have been invited to the wedding of the year, but you can certainly toast the good life with Cosmic Amethyst, blending Viniq Purple, Cointreau, lemonade, Prosecco and candied crystals; or the Ruby Moon, mixed with Cachaca, blood orange juice, lime and a Pop Rocks rim.
For Sunday Fun Day, Boxwood on the Roof satisfies sugar cravings 1–5 p.m. with its I Scream Sundays menu, scooping up house-made ice creams dolloped into sundaes, scoops and shakes. Succulent creations include the London Fog Sundae, made with Earl Grey Tea-flavored ice cream, vanilla syrup and whipped cream; and The Yorkshire Pudding Sundae, made with stout ice cream and toffee sauce. Other ice cream flavors include Mexican vanilla bean, classic chocolate cake, popcorn, dehydrated strawberry and balsamic, and cookie monster Oreo cookies.
