Though I recently moved to the suburbs outside of Philadelphia, I find myself back often in search of great new restaurants. This past week, some friends and I discovered a BYOB nestled on a small side street in the city’s East Falls neighborhood. It’s one of those places you’d never find on your own — a true hidden gem.
Fiorino combined two of my favorite things — wine and authentic Italian food — in a quaint, cozy restaurant owned by renowned Philadelphia Italian restaurateur, Franco Faggi. The restaurant’s small but inclusive menu is inspired by the traditions of Italy’s Romagna region and feature authentic dishes, from handmade pastas and fresh seafood to homemade breads and sharable antipasti dishes.
We started with a house salad and eggplant rollatini to share, after the complimentary fresh bruschetta and warm bread with a basil-infused tomato dipping sauce.
For our meal, we tried the Rigatoni Amatriciana, made with pancetta, onions and tomato; Veal Siciliana, made with roasted red peppers and provolone; a seafood special, which included a baked white fish in a creamy white wine sauce and a chicken and spinach-stuff pasta dish. There are hardly words apt enough to describe these dishes. Everything was fresh, flavorful and so clearly homemade from recipes passed down through generations.
Everything had a homey Italian taste and richness that translated perfectly to the restaurant’s small, personal setting.
When the wine was gone, and we finished our chocolate mousse and tiramisu, we were offered a complimentary glass of limoncello, a perfect way to end an authentic Italian meal.
We never felt rushed, and it was difficult to leave the warmth of the restaurant. I strongly recommend Fiorino for a simply wonderful Italian meal and welcoming, friendly service. The restaurant only seats around 30 people, so reservations are suggested. Parking can be very difficult in East Falls so give yourself some extra time.

Apr 2, 2025What’s New in Luxury Travel in Rome
Rome has always been a destination for art, history and culture, but, until recently, true luxury hospitality in the Eternal City was surprisingly limited. Five-star hotels existed, but the selection was small, often traditional and rarely pushed the boundaries of modern luxury. That’s changing fast. In 2025, a wave of new openings, high-profile renovations and bold hospitality concepts redefines what it means to stay in Rome. According to Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, Rome’s hotel occupancy far exceeds the European average, and Rome responded by investing more than 450 million euros in the city’s hotels in 2024 to meet the growing demand for exceptional experiences. Last month, I attended the inaugural edition of RISE Rome, a premier event dedicated to the city’s luxury hospitality sector, to catch up on the latest updates and newest trends shaping the city. Here are highlights from some of the city’s top stays.
