Almyra, a modern Greek restaurant in Philadelphia, offers a dining experience truly worth the visit. I recently dined there with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday and, from the moment we arrived, it was clear this place stood out. Our table for 11 was perfectly placed near the kitchen, giving us an excellent view of the vibrant, flower-filled ceiling and setting the tone for an unforgettable evening.

We kicked things off by sharing a variety of spreads, including spicy feta, smoked eggplant, Santorini fava, beet and edamame hummus. Each one was expertly crafted with fresh vegetables and warm pita bread perfectly complementing the rich flavors. The assortment was a great way to sample a range of tastes and textures, making for a fun and delicious start to the meal.

Next up were wagyu dumplings, filled with feta and onion, served with a side of lemon-mint yogurt. The combination of flavors was exceptional — rich, savory and refreshing all at once. Paired with crispy, layered potato fries (not pictured), it was a satisfying and memorable dish.

For me, the standout was the crispy rice with tuna and avocado. The tuna was incredibly fresh, and the rice had just the right texture, offering the perfect base for flavorful toppings. It was so good we immediately ordered another round to share with the table.

Adding in a special shout out to the staff at Almyra, as the service truly stood out. Our server was not only attentive and friendly, but also went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect throughout the evening. When it was time to celebrate the birthday, the staff surprised us by bringing out the cake with a sparkler, adding extra shimmer to make the moment even more memorable.

The menu at Almyra is thoughtfully curated, with fresh and inventive dishes leaving me eager to return. We ended the evening with a locally made banana chocolate-chip cake topped with cream cheese frosting, the perfect sweet finale. Almyra delivered a dining experience that exceeded all expectations, and I’ll definitely be back to explore more of what it has to offer.
