ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: I combined business (attending The Trazees awards at The Joseph) with family time (my husband and I brought our then 11-month-old daughter on her first plane ride) in Nashville. Our arrival at The Joseph, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Nashville commenced the business portion of the trip.
We rented an SUV and made our way to the hotel’s downtown location from the other side of the city. At first, finding the entrance to the hotel was a tad confusing, but once we pulled in, we were able to easily valet, load our bags and check in. The lobby boasts a sleek, clean and stylish look, with light walls and wood accents, striking art, and a luxury aesthetic.
The front desk team was especially helpful; we had requested a Pack ’n Play or crib in our room, and it wasn’t there upon arrival. The front desk took care of that right away, and they accepted a delivery of formula for us, as well, and stored it securely until we could pick it up.
GUEST QUARTERS: The guestroom floor took on a different feel than the lobby, with darker hallway décor. Our guestroom then boasted a similar color palette as the lobby, with medium woods, cream walls and fun accent pieces. An almost-full wall of storage, immediately upon entrance on the right, was immensely helpful, as traveling with a baby requires a lot of stuff. The room was also spacious and didn’t feel crowded with the Pack ’n Play in addition to the bed. We had space to store the stroller in a tucked-away spot, as well.
The bathroom sat to the left of the entrance, behind two large sliding doors. The ample counter space and double sinks were flanked on each side by the separate water closet and shower stall.
The built-ins for storage continued into the bedroom as well, with drawers and a countertop for more space. The TV was wall-mounted above. Next to this piece and extending to the windows was a chaise lounge-type of couch. A wall of windows ran the length of the room. The king- sized bed was comfortable. ( Just ask Harper, my daughter, as she preferred sleeping there over the Pack ’n Play!) Two nightstands sat on either side of the bed, and there was also a chair and small table sitting in the corner by the windows.
SERVICES/AMENITIES: Scott and I were able to put Harper in the stroller and explore Nashville easily and on foot from our home base of The Joseph. We ventured down to Broadway, we walked to lunch in The Gulch neighborhood and more without ever getting the car from the valet. And it was a quick and easy ride to the airport from the hotel.
Few hotels can boast their on-site restaurant has been ranked No. 1 Restaurant in the U.S. by Food + Wine, but The Joseph can. Dubbed a “love letter to Italy,” Yolan offers an à la carte menu. Café Yolan serves breakfast, brunch and lunch; Four Walls is an intimate craft cocktail bar; and Denim, a seasonal rooftop bar, will reopen in spring.
Rose, a Luxury Spa and Salon, offers six treatment rooms, a full-service salon, a relaxation room and more, perched 21 stories above the city. More than 22,000 square feet of meeting and event space awaits your next event. As an event is what brought us to the property, Global Traveler can personally attest to the quality of the space, cuisine and service. You won’t be disappointed — with your event or your stay.
TOP TAKEAWAYS:
- Ideal location in Nashville as it’s within walking distance of attractions like Broadway and The Gulch but far enough away for a peaceful, quiet stay.
- Explore the more than 1,100 pieces of rare art on display around the hotel. We hosted an event at the property, and the art in and around the event space was especially interesting and thought-provoking. Art can be found around the hotel and in guestrooms, thanks in large part to the collection of the hotel’s developers, the Pizzuti family, also world-known art collectors.
- The Joseph is a member of Marriott Bonvoy, so guests can earn and redeem points, among other perks, during their stay.
- As family travelers, we felt welcomed with open arms at the hotel.
