Spring is a wonderful time to visit Scottsdale, with April weather about 56–86 degrees Fahrenheit —  not yet very hot, yet warm enough for swimming, biking and hiking. It is also the end of Scottsdale’s busy winter season, with hotels less crowded — and often less expensive, too. Spring is a season of fun under the sun in Scottsdale, with can’t-miss signature events, from cultural festivals and professional sporting competitions to collector car auctions and live music.

From April 2 to 6, Arizona Bike Week comes roaring back to WestWorld of Scottsdale. Event-goers will find nightly concerts, freestyle motorcycle stunt jumpers and riders performing gravity-defying feats; a treasure trove of motorcycle marvels and custom creations; and a playground for adrenaline-seekers of all kinds at PowerYard.

Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort’s Tiki Taka restaurant, under celebrity chef Richard Blais, fuses Japanese plates and Spanish tapas, drawing in locals now that things are quieter in the hotels. Grand Hyatt also completed a $115 million, property-wide renovation and rebranding. Additionally, the resort debuted its Arizona Ballroom, which doubled in size.

Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows rewards guests with special culinary offers, including the Chill and Grill experience, bringing cooking and dining from the kitchen into the guest’s bungalow, with the opportunity to become their own grill master using chef-prepped ingredients. The resort’s Girlfriend Escape and Discover Wellness offers each include special perks, too, like bubbly and brunch, aromatherapy or a resort credit.

Built by cowboy artist Lon Megargee in the 1930s, Hermosa Inn honors its artistic legacy with two art programs this spring. The Mimosa & Monet art class series provides visitors with Saturday morning classes led by artist-in-residence Carrie Curran through May 3.

Find a romantic spring getaway at Boulders Resort & Spa Scottsdale, where guests can have a private dinner in a breathtaking desert setting and indulge in culinary events such as the Winemaker Dinner Series on April 25. Each spring, new baby bobcats are discovered and rescued, in partnership with Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center, after their mothers give birth in the safe haven of the spa grounds. These stories have inspired a new service that connects nature with wellness, the Desert Zen offer, combining a Desert Zen Massage, Organic Signature Facial and a spa lunch with a Wildlife & Nature Tour. The property is a rich habitat for birds and desert wildlife, delighting guests with animal sightings at every turn.

Family-owned Arizona Stronghold, the largest winery in Arizona, expanded its menu beyond the typical charcuterie board to include house-made pizzas on Friday and Saturday. All dough is made from scratch in an 800-degree pizza oven, and topping combinations include goat cheese, fig jam and prosciutto. Sweet pizza toppings include lemon curd with mascarpone, making for perfect pairings with the vineyard’s award-winning wines. The winery is open year-round except Monday and Tuesday.

Coinciding with its 40th anniversary, Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament launched a new show, the first since 2017, to be seen at all 10 castles nationwide, including its Scottsdale castle, now celebrating five years. The new storyline (influenced by guest feedback) features new characters and stunts, while still impressing fans with intense jousting and sword fights, skilled horsemanship and falconry, all over a four-course feast.

The Sonoran Desert is associated with unique wildlife, abundant sun, prickly cacti and, thanks to its cowboy past — barbecue. Stellar Adventures’ Backroads & BBQ tour takes travelers out into the desert to see the rugged beauty of the terrain on an off-roading excursion in (their choice of) an H1 Hummer, ATV or UTV, before heading to Frasher’s Smokehouse for barbecue and local craft beer.

On May 5, Air France increases its non-stop service between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (about 17 minutes from Old Town Scottsdale) to Charles de Gaulle International Airport in Paris from three to five times weekly.

Find Inner Peace in India, the Birthplace of Yoga

How far would you travel in pursuit of inner peace? Though the wellness industry has grown in popularity for quite a while, he business skyrocketed post-pandemic, with more and more travelers booking yoga retreats in the name of serenity, spirituality and, of course, self-care. Though the idea of traveling in India initially felt more exciting than relaxing, I found the contrast between the bustling activity outside and the quiet reflection of my yoga practice to be an intoxicating combination.

Australia’s Amazing Gold Coast Buzzes with Family-Friendly Activities

In Springbrook National Park, about 90 minutes south of Brisbane, the sky is aglow. But this isn’t the sort of glittery glimmer I expected from Australia’s buzzy Gold Coast. I’d heard about the sun-dappled beaches framed with scintillating sand, the sunscreen-slathered bodies at play, the way the ocean water whirls with what looks like bits of gold dust, the amusement parks, the meter maids clad in bikinis, and the high-rise hotels with their reflective-mirrored windows and popular bars that blare tunes beside the waves. Before arriving at what I imagined to look a bit like Miami’s South Beach in places (and it does along the coast in parts), I hadn’t focused much on thoughts of ancient trees, rugged outback and night skies luminous with glowworms. This nighttime nature foray, however, shows me another version of the Gold Coast ... one where nocturnal safaris veritably light up my life.
