A few years ago my best friend and I stumbled upon Harp and Crown in Philadelphia by sheer accident, and it has since become one of our go-to spots in the city. There’s something about this place that just clicks — maybe it’s the seasonal menu, the inviting atmosphere or the consistency in delivering great food and a great time. Whatever it is, every visit feels special, and it’s always a spot I look forward to.

One of the things I love most about Harp and Crown is the menu changes with the seasons. Each time we go there’s something new to try, yet they always keep some classic staples that never disappoint. On our most recent visit, we kicked things off with the famous cheesesteak egg rolls. These little bites came out hot and crispy with the perfect balance of cheesy, savory goodness inside. It’s the perfect introduction to the meal; and every time I’ve ordered them, I’m reminded why they’ve become such a popular choice.

For the main course we couldn’t resist ordering the mac and cheese — another one of Harp and Crown’s signature dishes. It’s something we’ve ordered on every visit, and it never fails to deliver. I’ve learned the hard way that if I don’t order my own plate, I’ll inevitably be begging for a bite off my best friend’s plate. It’s rich, creamy and the kind of comfort food you crave on any given night. Even if you’re not a mac and cheese lover, this dish is a must-try, and I guarantee you’ll be tempted to order it on every visit.

Beyond the amazing food, the ambiance at Harp and Crown adds to the experience. The space is intimate, with low lighting, exposed brick walls and a touch of greenery that makes it feel cozy yet chic. It’s the perfect setting for a relaxed dinner in the city, especially during the week when the hustle and bustle outside fades away. And if you’re feeling adventurous, there’s a hidden gem downstairs — a bowling alley called Elbow Lane. Though I haven’t checked it out yet, it’s definitely on my to-do list this summer. Harp and Crown has truly become a staple for me, and every visit just solidifies why it’s a favorite.
