Nestled on the first floor of Paris’ charming Hôtel Norman, Thiou offers an inviting escape from the hustle and bustle of the Champs Élysées, combining exquisite flavors with an intimate and carefully designed atmosphere. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I made the right choice.

The restaurant is the creation of Michelin-starred Chef Apiradee Thirakomen, also known as Thiou, a passionate chef with roots in Thailand. Thiou’s culinary philosophy is grounded in the rich flavors and traditions of Southeast Asian cuisine, particularly Thai dishes, but with a modern twist. Thiou herself is dedicated to bringing the authentic taste of her homeland to Paris while also highlighting the nuances of French culinary techniques. Her background in both Thailand and France gives her the unique ability to blend these two worlds seamlessly, and this dedication is reflected in every dish on the menu. Her mission is clear: to offer an unforgettable dining experience bridging cultures through the universal language of food.

The restaurant’s space is delicately decorated with a refined yet warm aesthetic. Every detail has been thoughtfully curated, from soft lighting to elegant furniture. Intimate lighting creates a serene and cozy ambiance. It felt like a quiet retreat where I could fully immerse myself in my book without distraction.

The meal began with a warm, comforting bowl of chicken and mushroom soup. The soup was wonderfully aromatic, with a deep savory flavor that set the perfect tone for the meal. The chicken was tender and the mushrooms added a subtle earthiness that beautifully complemented the coconut milk-based broth. It was the perfect starter on a chilly Parisian evening.

For my main course, I chose prawns sautéed with spices and served with vegetables, Thai basil and fried rice. This pairing was nothing short of amazing. The prawns were perfectly cooked, tender and juicy, and the sauce came packed with flavor and just the right amount of spice. Vegetables were fresh and offered a cooling effect, while Thai basil added a fragrant, herbal note. The fried rice, rich with flavor and perfectly seasoned, served as a delicious base for the prawns and vegetables.

To accompany my meal, I ordered the flower Champagne cocktail, a refreshing and beautifully presented drink as delightful to the eyes as to the palate. Floral notes paired well with the light bubbles of the Champagne, creating a delicate, slightly sweet flavor that was the perfect contrast to the meal’s spices.

Afterward, I opted for a calming cup of jasmine tea, which offered a soothing finish to the meal. It was the ideal way to unwind and enjoy the last moments of my dining experience.

The staff was attentive without being intrusive, striking a good balance between professionalism and friendliness. It was clear they take great pride in their work, and their warmth added to the overall experience.

All in all, Thiou offers a unique combination of outstanding food, a tranquil atmosphere and impeccable service. It’s a place where you can take your time and savor each moment, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely meal in Paris. Whether you’re looking for a quiet dinner on your own or a special evening with loved ones, Thiou is a destination I would recommend.
