NH Collection Gent officially opened its doors in late 2024 following a large-scale renovation of what was formerly NH Hotel Gent Belford. With this European launch, Minor Hotels Europe & Americas strengthens NH Collection Hotels & Resorts’ brand presence in Belgium, with sister properties in Antwerp and Brussels.

Housed partly in a meticulously restored building from the 1913 World Fair, this property honors the Flemish city’s most important textile magnates from the 14th century within its renovated interior. Taking inspiration from the works of Hendrik Conscience, a popular Flemish novelist, NH Collection Gent’s design also draws from the writer’s famous story of the forbidden love between Veerle Van Artevelde and Lieven Denys. From its 13th-century Denys Medieval Crypt to the property’s Grand Café Van Artevelde restaurant and contemporary suites, several details in the hotel pay homage to this compelling romantic tale.
Located in the historic center of Ghent, NH Collection Gent offers direct access to city attractions like St. Bavo’s Cathedral and Castle of the Counts. Guests enjoy expansive views of the city’s historic urban landscape, with rooms carefully spread over four floors.

NH Collection Gent offers 174 spacious and modern rooms reflecting the essence of the city’s rich textile history. Decorated with unique fabric art and warm color tones, each room combines contemporary elegance with the allure of history. Junior suites are a distinctive feature of the hotel, with each one named after Van Artevelde family members, figures of historical importance within Ghent’s textile history.
Hotel guests enjoy the large breakfast buffet at the hotel’s Spinners Restaurant, and the best spot to enjoy local cuisine or popular Belgian beer is at the hotel’s Grand Café Van Artevelde. The property’s Dyers Courtyard is the perfect place to indulge in a light meal or cold drink during warmer months.

Tucked into a Lake Maggiore enclave overlooking the Gulf of Colmegna, Relais Villa Porta is an idyllic place to take in a side of the Italian Lakes region that’s different from buzzy Lake Como during high season. In 1820, it was built as a hunting lodge, and by the end of the century, was transformed into an inn by Leopoldo Casnedi. Over time, the surrounding parkland was further enhanced with rare plants collected by Pietro Porta, its second owner and botanist, as well as regular guests wanting to support his efforts. This ensured the inn would ultimately sit pretty within a 10,000-square-meter park surrounding the main villa, a 19th-century Liberty-style greenhouse and original Villa Porta mosaic.
