Singapore’s amalgamation of futurism, luxury and nature makes it a perennially alluring destination for conferences, meetings and various business travel endeavors. Attractions such as the photogenic Gardens by the Bay, the resort-y Sentosa Island and National Museum of Singapore (celebrating its 137th anniversary) all provide striking and memorable backdrops for business and industry gatherings. The city’s lesser-known cultural destinations, meanwhile, are worth discovering through customized tours and between-meeting activities.

Singapore Botanic Gardens offers a drop-in guided tour, Native Plants in the Garden, enlightening visitors on how native plants conserve water and adapt to their local environment and offering tips on growing these resilient plants in a home setting. At Fort Siloso, Singapore’s only well-preserved coastal fort, history buffs can take in remains of war structures, World War II memorabilia, and wax figures of Japanese and British soldiers at the Surrender Chambers. Newer attractions, meanwhile, bring depth to Singapore’s natural and cultural landscape. Mandai Bird Paradise showcases some of the world’s most colorful birds with educational presentations, feeding activities and guided wildlife tours. Singapore Sidecars injects a shot of adrenaline into its city tours with a fleet of hand-restored vintage Vespa sidecars. In addition to its heritage rides and night rides, the company offers bespoke tours for groups of 10 to 30 people.

At Yixing Xuan Teahouse, a father-daughter team conducts tea appreciation workshops for groups and individuals about the fine points of brewing and enjoying a pot of tea and the myriad health benefits of making tea part of one’s daily routine. Sifr Aromatics, located in the Kampong Glam neighborhood, provides plenty of inspiration for elevating one’s home or workspace with scent. The fine perfume shop, established in Singapore in 2010 by Johari Kazura, specializes in customized perfume blends, small-batch perfumes, scented soy-wax candles, natural essential oil blends, home fragrances and scent accessories.

Singapore’s “hawker centers” are consummate foodie havens that have gained worldwide attention in recent years and are tailor-made for group activities and excursions. Even with more than 100 vendor stalls, Maxwell Hawker Centre remains one of the most popular. Some of the center’s time- tested establishments are worth hunting down, including international celebrity chef-endorsed Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice and Hock Lai Seng Teochew Fishball Bak Chor Mee. Other stalls of note include Danlao, noted for its unusual scrambled egg dishes; Fu Shun Jin Ji Shao La Mian Jia for its char siew wonton noodles; Indonesian cuisine-focused Alimama Green Chilli Chicken Rice & Prawn Noodle; and Michelin-acclaimed Rojak, Popiah & Cockle.

Trendy neighborhoods like Tiong Bahru, Dempsey Hill, Haji Lane and the opulent Orchard Road regularly draw avid shoppers and fashion-minded travelers. Even with their enduring popularity, emerging retail concepts and new enclaves build upon what emporiums such as Singapore designer- focused Design Orchard started a few years ago. Shopping and entertainment complex New Bahru, built into the former Nan Chiau High School, showcases small businesses dedicated to cutting-edge dining, fashion retail, wellness, educational spaces for children, and arts and culture spaces.

While the landmark Raffles Hotel’s recent renovation garnered a lot of buzz, other ambitious hotel reinventions and luxury property openings keep Singapore at the forefront as one of the world’s best destinations for unforgettable conferences, business retreats and meetings. The Capella Hotel boasts the first spa in Singapore to receive 5-star status. The Parkroyal Collection’s Faber House in Marina Bay reopened in 2024 as a sustainably designed “conscientious luxury experience,” with upgrades including sunlit meeting rooms and a rooftop urban farm. Conrad Singapore Orchard, refurbished as an urban oasis and reopened in early 2024, features the Michelin-starred restaurant Summer Palace as well as an immersive Edible Garden Walk leading from the hotel to Singapore Botanic Gardens. Along the way, guests discover edible botanicals that define the Singaporean palate with the aid of a local botanist.

Although Singapore’s innovative bar and nightlife sparkles, there are places that reflect its reputation for innovation and glamour with spaces that go above and beyond business lunches. The dazzling 1920s-themed Atlas Bar boasts an impressive collection of gins as well as ATLAS Stage, perfectly scaled for small corporate events. EC Proof, a prime retail destination for both professional and hobbyist mixologists, is also known for its socials and private classes that can be organized for individual groups.

While cities across Asia have much to offer business travelers and meeting planners, Singapore truly can be all things to all people.
