A Weekend in the Buckeye State

This past weekend, I embarked on an unforgettable journey through Ohio, starting with a delicious breakfast at Rudy’s Hot Dog in Toledo. Known for its classic diner vibes and legendary chili dogs, Rudy’s is the perfect spot to fuel up before a day of adventures.

I then headed to Gust Brother’s Pumpkin Farm, where the vibrant autumn hues of pumpkins and gourds filled carts. I strolled through the farm, took part in the corn maze and wandered through rows of pick-your-own flowers. After a fun-filled morning at the pumpkin farm, I made my way to Handel’s Ice Cream, a beloved local gem known for its rich and creamy flavors. With an impressive selection, I indulged in a scoop of the chocolate cake batter — my go-to every time. The perfect treat for a sunny fall day and with my sweet tooth satisfied, I continued my journey to Cincinnati.Ohio Ohio Ohio OhioOhio Ohio

After checking into our Airbnb, my boyfriend and I started to go through the list of recommendations from family members of where to eat. In the mood for tacos and margaritas, we settled on Bakersfield. We went all-in by ordering the short rib queso, esquites and quite a few tacos, pairing the meal with a pitcher of pineapple margarita. The ambiance was lively, the music was upbeat, and the food was nothing short of spectacular. I felt the excitement of the city as I savored every bite, solidifying Bakersfield as a must-visit spot in Cincinnati.Ohio Ohio Ohio

Saturday started off lazily, just as weekends should. I enjoyed brunch at Taste of Belgium, where the waffle Benedicts and burrito in a crepe offered a delightful twist on traditional breakfast fare. The combination of fluffy waffles topped with perfectly poached eggs and savory sauces left me craving more. After indulging, a much-needed nap beckoned, followed by a leisurely walk through the Over-the-Rhine area, where historic architecture and vibrant street art added to the city’s charm.Ohio

As night fell, I dressed up for an incredible steak dinner at Court Street. The ambiance was sophisticated yet welcoming, making it the perfect end to my Ohio weekend. Each bite of the perfectly cooked steak was heavenly, complemented by a selection of delectable sides. Reflecting on the weekend, I felt grateful for the delicious food, beautiful sights and wonderful memories created along the way. Ohio truly offers a delightful mix of flavors and experiences, making it a hidden gem worth exploring!Ohio

Wellness Comes Naturally in Greenville, South Carolina

Strolling through downtown Greenville, South Carolina, it’s easy to see why the city ranks high among the best places to live in the United States: Shops, restaurants and coffee bars line the streets; there are also performance venues, hotels and outdoor plazas. But what really sets this upstate city of just more than 78,000 residents apart are the easily accessible parks and walking trails encouraging both residents and visitors to explore the city by foot or cycle (both handcycles and adaptive bikes are available to rent). Even better, as Greenville continues to grow, city planners and major employers work together to expand these opportunities. When Greenville’s Swamp Rabbit Trail, for instance, opened in 2009, the paved, multiuse pathway ran about 9 miles from the heart of Greenville to the town of Traveler’s Rest.

Grand Hotel Des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz Review

Switzerland’s most storied ski town (the one, in fact, credited with pioneering the very concept of Alpine tourism), St. Moritz legendarily attracts the rich, the famous, celebutantes and the wannabes. Yet, there’s something compellingly earthy about the place, a town on a lake rich with natural environs, where winter sports and summer activities draw athletes and mountain lovers aplenty. As at the mountain restaurants (where some arrive by chairlift rather than muscle movement, and all types of diners and imbibers convene), Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz straddles the old and new, the lavish and the understated. The hotel, one of St. Moritz’s oldest, opened as a spa haven in 1864, set atop a healing mineral spring.
