Part of the Paradiski range in the Tarentaise Valley in France, La Plagne is a popular ski area home to 11 resorts, each unique in their charms and amenities. The region offers more than 250 miles of pistes across seven peaks, and travelers planning a 2024/2025 European winter vacation will find even more exciting additions to La Plagne this season.

Ride Aérolive: A Journey to Peak of La Plagne
This winter marks the unveiling of a new experience taking adventure to new heights — literally. Aérolive is a world first to La Plagne, lifting passengers more than 3,000 meters above sea level via two open-air cabins newly added to the Glaciers gondolas, which ascend to Live 3000, the highest point of the resort. The ride promises 360-degree views of the Alpine landscape with slatted floors and no glass barriers, putting passengers in touch with their surroundings. At the top, expect a viewing platform and charming café.
New Chalets
La Plagne’s Champagny-en-Vanoise is now home to eight new chalets with a Far North ambiance. With oversized gable roofs and low, sloping side walls, these Huttopia Chalet Montanas are the latest addition to the site, set to welcome guests year-round. The chalets also sit 10 minutes by bus from the slopes, and for those skilled at off-piste, you can even ski back (snow dependent). Within, expect a wood stove; equipped kitchen; large, covered terrace with a picnic table; and a ski rack.

Heated Lounge Opens
Relax and enjoy spectacular views from floor-to-ceiling windows atop Roche de Mio at Le Lounge, a new heated picnic room offering a bolthole for visitors, no matter the weather. Located 2,800 meters above sea level, the lounge features modern, comfortable furniture.
Gourmet Restaurant Debuts
Chalet du Bresson, tucked away in a natural forest, transformed into a haven for gourmet comfort food. Renovated by the La Plagne Tarentaise commune, the restaurant combines nostalgic charm with contemporary style, vintage objects, a crackling wood stove and large windows framing the forest. Expect traditional French cuisine served up in generous, family-style platters.
Looking Ahead to Spring 2025
La Plagne will be home to a brand-new event next spring: La Mega Bell Course. Slated to run April 14–19, this race series combines fun, creativity and challenge across five wacky races that will test even the most seasoned skiers. Competitors can choose from two strategies: Embrace the chaos with total improvisation on Saturday or take the more tactical approach by practicing on a time course available Monday–Friday, each one unveiled day by day. Bells play throughout the event, a nod to the Easter holiday timing.

Mindful drinking with an eye on wellness can mean ordering a zero-proof or low ABV cocktail instead of one that’s boozy and stirred, or slowly savoring one glass of wine instead of tossing back two or three. But sometimes, where you’re sipping a beverage can have just as much of a positive effect on your mind, body and spirit as what’s in your glass.

Apr 30, 2025Relais Villa Porta Review
Tucked into a Lake Maggiore enclave overlooking the Gulf of Colmegna, Relais Villa Porta is an idyllic place to take in a side of the Italian Lakes region that’s different from buzzy Lake Como during high season. In 1820, it was built as a hunting lodge, and by the end of the century, was transformed into an inn by Leopoldo Casnedi. Over time, the surrounding parkland was further enhanced with rare plants collected by Pietro Porta, its second owner and botanist, as well as regular guests wanting to support his efforts. This ensured the inn would ultimately sit pretty within a 10,000-square-meter park surrounding the main villa, a 19th-century Liberty-style greenhouse and original Villa Porta mosaic.
